Bird Challenge

Oh dear - no work on Friday as we had about 30cm of snow!!! 

Anyway I had started to  make this book and so decided this would be great for the sunday stampers bird challenge.  

I just used some backing card from card pads (waste not want not) and use the Tim Holtz Perfect Splatter Distress Technique (sort of).  I used several of the distress inks splodged onto my craft mat and some mica powders sprinkled into these.  I then spritzed with water until beaded and laid the card into it.  I dried the card and then dabbed again into remaining ink until happy with result.

The die cuts were cut from Marianne dies (I think these might be Ornate Bird  Cage 2, Bird of Paradise, and Garden Branch) - these were are stamped with Indigoblu Crackleglaze stamp (I know it is quite subtle but it is there) and then coloured with various distress inks.  The bird has had some rock candy crackle added for texture - not ideal as on a smooth surface and starting to chip a bit! The flower brad was an old one from my stash - now sure where it came from - it was silver so I coloured it with alcohol marker.

I made the book with WRMK The Cinch  (only mine is the older version one) and added some stash ribbons.

The dies are all Mariannes. You can just make out the Indigoblu Crackleglaze stamp on all of the dies cuts.

This is the inside of the front cover - I am undecided which I like best. At least I can see each one every time I use the book.

Butter-Fly Tag

This tag was great to do as it reminded me of some brilliant Wendie Rhodes stamps (Wings) that were brilliant to use for this.  This tag is forSunday Stamper challenge.  The tag was just coloured with chalk inks and then embossed with some black embossing paste using a crafter workshop template.  This was then highlighted with some metallic waxes. 

The Butterflies and leaves as I say are from the brilliant Wendie Rhodes stamp set and these were covered with Tim Holtz Crackle rock candy glaze (perhaps a bit too much!).  I can't remember where the sentiment came from - it was just from my stash. 

Anyway - the really important thing is for Hels to bring us back lots of new crafty goodies from CHA to play around with even though I am here and she is there I am getting excited about the thought of all the things.  Perhaps I had better start saving some pennies.  I like the look of the new Tim Holtz paint thingies!!!
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Blue Card

I really had fun making this card and always love using this stamp as it is such a pretty and versatile stamp and always a favourite one of mine.  I saw this challenge for the Penny Black Saturday challenge and too be honest blue isn't one of the colours I always pick to use first it was more fun and more of a challenge to do a blue card.  

I chose to use my Penny Black slapstick cling Dreamy stamp and stamped this onto the background card which had been dampened. I used watercolour markers.  I then stamped again onto heatproof acetate and sprinkled with different colours of moonglow embossing powders and stuck this over the base layer.  

The paisley backing paper and tag is from a DeJa Views pad (blue raspberry).  I inked the edges on the papers with various ink pads.

Penny Black Dreamy stamp

Scrunchy Flowers Card

I don't know!  Sometimes after Christmas and having eaten a bit more than normal it is a relief in a way to go back to simple foods and not too many snacks (well mostly).  Anyway I decided follow this train of thought and to keep things quite simple for this card! I stamped and embossed  (with a pearl powder) the card and decided to highlight this with some mica paint.  The "writing" sentiment stamp was inked, embossed, torn apart and put onto a torn piece of vellum - so minimal layers.  The Scrunchy Flowers were made with just circles of paper (not sure I quite followed the instructions but quite like the outcome).  

I am going to enter this into the Sunday Stampers Challenge/Giveaway from Hels Sheridan.

The sentiment is from Stampendous (Flower Path).  The card background is stamped with Dylusion (How Does Your Garden Grow).  The Scrunchy Flower technique is based on an idea from the technique from this blog The Artsiders.  I just roughly cut out some circles of paper, inked with distress inks, scrunched, added some highlights with mica paint and glued together.  

The ribbon looks very bright and the mica paint not showing up!

Love the Scrunchy Flower technique - I have a feeling all of my cards will have these from now on (well until I get a  Melt Pot and can try glazed ones!)

Ribbon and flowers both looking brighter/darker than in real life - I think  not having enough natural light.
